A MAN who repeatedly lied about his identity was jailed for storing drugs and almost £10,000 in a Bradford property.

Endrit Isufaj, of Raven Terrace in Manningham, was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment at Bradford Crown Court on Thursday.

Prosecuting counsel, Jemima Stephenson, outlined how a group of males were outside his address, prompting two police officers to investigate.

They knocked on the door and could see Isufaj hiding. Once, the 25-year-old opened the door, he claimed to be 'Thomas, from Poland'.

£9,850 cash was found in the property with 8kg of cannabis in the loft.

At interview, Isufaj lied again saying he was from Birmingham and was brought to the house by friends who popped out for food.

Defence counsel Jade Edwards stated Isufaj was in the country illegally and gave a false identity because he was scared.

She also argued he was more mature now given the offence happened when he was 24.

Recorder Judy Dawson said Isufaj played a lesser role but added, "make no mistake that does not take away your guilt."

She said being alone in the house with 8kg of cannabis and over £9,000 made it difficult to state that he was unaware of the operation.

Isufaj has already served the sentence but is still being held on immigration matters.
