A WOMAN travelling from Bradford has been fined a hefty sum for dodging a rail fare.
Jessica Pereria, 21 was travelling from Bradford Interchange to Leeds station on March 8, without having purchased a rail ticket.
When asked to show her ticket she produced a single from Bradford interchange to Leeds stations with a 16-25 Railcard discount, but she was didn’t have her railcard.
Her details were obtained and she was advised the facts would be reported.
Following the incident, a letter was sent to the defendant requesting an explanation, a response was received, and a Fixed Penalty Notice was then sent. However, this remains unpaid.
A Collection Order was made at Kirklees Magistrate’s Court and she was asked to pay, compensation of £4.90, a fine of £440, costs of £150 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £44.
In total she was fined £638.60.
