A VAN used to illegally dump waste in the streets of Undercliffe has been seized.

The driver and a passenger of the white Ford Transit van were captured on CCTV fly-tipping a large amount of builders and commercial waste from the vehicle.

The vehicle identified on the CCTV footage was located by Bradford East Environmental Enforcement Officers parked just a few streets away from where the fly-tipping occurred.

The van was seized shortly after it was located, and an investigation is ongoing - with those associated with the vehicle due to be interviewed.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “This collaborative working between our Environmental Enforcement Officers and West Yorkshire Police meant that we were able to take another vehicle involved with fly-tipping off the road and disrupting the illegal waste activities of those involved. If the vehicle is unroadworthy and has no resale value it will be crushed.”

Householders have a legal duty of care to ensure that their waste carrier is registered and legitimate waste carriers will be happy to produce the relevant documents.

Residents can check the Environment Agency website to see the register of licensed waste carriers - https://environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/search-waste-carriers-brokers If you witness fly-tipping taking place and have information, visit the council’s website www.bradford.gov.uk or telephone 01274 431000.
