ONE little girl from Bradford offered a moment of bright colour in the sobering news about the Queen yesterday.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96 at Balmoral yesterday afternoon, but only this week a young Bradford girl received correspondence from the Royal household.

"With news of the Queen I wanted to share our story," said Bradford mum Sarah Priestley.

"For the Jubilee my little girl, Indie-Pearl, wrote to the Queen and sent a picture of a coloured-in Corgi dog.

"With all the excitement of the Platunum Jubilee, it was Indie's first realisation of the Queen."

In the letter she sent with the picture, six-year-old Indie, a pupil at Scholes Village Primary School, wrote: "To my Queen. Do you like pink or purple best? I love you Queen. Miss Indie-Pearl Priestley."

Mrs Priestley said: "We weren't expecting anything back but Indie received a reply from Balmoral just this week.

"The letter reads that the Queen thanked her for the colourful picture of a corgi.

"It is quite special and was signed by the Queen's Lady in Waiting."

"We were very humbled to get a letter. We've got this lovely memory now.

"Hopefully Indie's picture put a smile on the Queen's face in her final week."

Mrs Priestley said Indie took the letter to Scholes Village Primary School this morning, where it was shared in a celebration assembly.

"The headteacher spoke about it will all of the other children," said Mrs Priestley.

"This letter is a happy memory that Indie will treasure forever.

"She will forever have that little piece of history of the Queen and it was a nice thought for her at this stage of her life."

Mrs Priestley also paid tribute to the Queen, saying: "It's very sad but everybody loved her and she was our Queen for 70 years."
