EMERGENCY services personnel from across Yorkshire have spoken of their sadness at the death of the Queen who they describe as a "source of inspiration".

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"The thoughts and condolences of the Chief Constable, Chief Officers, officers and staff of West Yorkshire Police are with the Royal Family at this sad time.

"The Union Flag will fly at half-mast at police stations across West Yorkshire as a sign of respect and mourning."

A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police Federation said: "All at West Yorkshire Police Federation are deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty The Queen.

"We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Royal Family. Our thoughts are with them at this terribly sad time. May Her Majesty rest in peace."

North Yorkshire Police were also saddened to hear of the Queen's passing. Lisa Winward, Chief Constable of the North Yorkshire Police, said: "It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth today, Thursday, September 8, 2022.

"There is a sombre mood across the force and on behalf of everyone at North Yorkshire Police, I send our deepest condolences to The Royal Family at this very sad time.

"As Crown Servants, it is a particularly poignant moment for the policing family. We will remember Her Majesty as a guiding light and source of inspiration during her long reign of 70 years, particularly during times of uncertainty."

A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It is with great sadness that we learn of the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

"The thoughts and condolences of the Fire Officer, the Fire Authority and all the staff of the West Yorkshire Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are with the Royal Family at this time.

"The Union flag will fly at half-mast at our headquarters and all the fire stations with a flagpole as a sign of respect and mourning."

Ambulance services from across Yorkshire also paid tribute.

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. Sending our deepest condolences to The Royal Family on behalf of Yorkshire Ambulance Service."

A spokesperson for Yorkshire Air Ambulance added: "With extreme sadness, we hear of the passing of our wonderful Queen, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, our monarch of 70 years.

"Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this extremely sad time and everyone at Yorkshire Air Ambulance would like to send their deepest condolences."
