A LONG-STANDING Bradford club is celebrating its building becoming more accessible for its elderly members.

The Dominica Association of Bradford, on Worthington Street, off White Abbey Road, was established in 1979 by Dominicans arriving in the city.

The building has three floors and is used as a community base.

Committee member Lucillia Grayston said: “We have a programme where we provide food on a Wednesday and Thursday for our seniors and activities for all during the week.

“These founders and members are now seniors, a lot with difficulty in walking and some in wheelchairs.”

She said a project to install a lift, run by centre manager Gary Serrant with support from the committee, was a long time coming and members are now able to eat together on the first floor.

“The club and members are very proud of this achievement as everyone is able to access all the three floors of the Dominica Association,” said Lucillia.
