UPSETTING footage released by the RSPCA shows a kitten tragically dying on a road in Bradford after being “thrown” from a car.

The poor animal can be seen taking a few steps trying to flee before dying in the road following the incident, which happened at about 4.30pm on August 23.

A resident on Springfield Avenue, Scholemoor, came across the dead kitten and reviewed nearby CCTV.

The charity is now investigating in the hope of finding the person responsible.

Inspector Rebecca Goulding took the body of the black and white kitten, which was about 10 weeks old, for a veterinary examination and said: “This video is so sickening - the poor defenceless kitten is thrown from the car and takes a few steps before dying in the road probably from shock.

“An initial vet examination revealed the pet also had a broken front leg and a hernia between the back legs consistent with a blow between the legs.

"I believe these may have been sustained before the kitten was callously thrown from the car.

“It was a horrendous attack and I am keen to find the person who did this.”

Anyone with information has been urged to call the RSPCA appeals line. The number to ring is 0300 1234 999.

The charity saw more than 100 reports of abandoned animals every single day in 2021.

That figure is set to rise throughout this year, the RSPCA has warned, as people struggle to afford pet food and care amid the cost of living crisis.

Meanwhile, people who bought a pet during the pandemic are finding it difficult to fit their new family member into busy non-lockdown schedules.

In 2021, dogs were the most abandoned pet with 14,462 reports of dumped dogs made to the RSPCA last year.

Cats were the second most abandoned pet with 10,051 reports of cats being callously dumped in 2021.

There were also 3,363 abandoned exotic pets reported to the RSPCA, including 1,455 fish and 685 snakes.

The RSPCA's Cancel Out Cruelty campaign aims to raise funds to keep its rescue teams on the frontline, saving animals in desperate need of help.

The campaign also raises awareness about how the RSPCA, other agencies, and the public can all work together to stamp out cruelty.

Its Cruelty Line took more than one million calls in 2021, including over 1,000 killings, over 600 mutilations, and over 7,800 beatings.
