A 10-YEAR-OLD boy suffered serious and is fighting for his life after a serious crash on the A1 this morning.

Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in the early hours of this morning today on the A1 (M) Northbound between junctions 44 and 45, Boston Spa, Leeds.

The collision occurred when a VW Golf travelling northbound collided with a Citroen Relay Van which was towing a large trailer.

The van had been stationary on the hard shoulder at the time of the collision.

A 10-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the VW Golf at the time of the incident, suffered serious injuries and remains in a critical condition at this time.

Two adults, also travelling in the Golf, suffered serious injuries which required hospital treatment.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstance of the incident.

Road closures were in place but have since been removed.
