A WOMAN faces a bill of more than £700 after dodging a train fare between Shipley and Birmingham.
Rebekah Steanson, 22, of Station Road, Birmingham, faced one charge of travelling on the railway without paying a fare.
She travelled between Shipley and Birmingham New Street without paying the £76.50 journey.
During this journey, on January 31, she was asked by the conductor to produce a valid ticket and told staff she did not have enough money to pay for one.
Her details were obtained and she was advised the facts would be reported. Following the incident, a letter was sent to the defendant requesting the fare only, as there was no response a Fixed Penalty Notice was then sent, this remains unpaid.
Steanson was fined £440, ordered to pay £150 costs, a £44 victim surcharge and £76.50 compensation for the offence, which totalled £710.50.
Steanson was sentenced in her absence at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on August 17.
