ARRESTS were made and vehicles seized in a major police operation in Holme Wood.

It followed concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

Four males, three aged 17 and one aged 19, were arrested on suspicion of robbery following the theft of a motorbike from a man on Eggleston Drive, Holme Wood, last month.

The four males remain in police custody and enquiries are ongoing by Bradford CID.

The two vehicles were seized for document offences and were related to criminal offences, police said.

'Information will be treated in the strictest confidence'

Inspector Andy Thornton of Bradford’s South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This operation highlights our commitment to making Holme Wood a safer place.

“We have listened to the residents’ concerns and through working with our partners we are tackling the problem head-on.

“Thanks to information from the community we have taken an off-road bike and car that is linked to criminality off the streets.

“I would like to appeal to the community who may have information about the robbery to come forward. Information will be treated in strict confidence, and we can safeguard any witnesses.

“I hope last night’s action sends a clear message to those involved in such activity, that we do not tolerate anti-social behaviour.

“My officers will continue to be out in the area on a regular basis making the area safer for people living here.”

'We need help from the community'

Councillor Matt Edwards (Greens, Tong) added: “As a ward councillor, anti-social use of quads and motorbikes is one of the biggest complaints I get so I am pleased to know that they have not only seized vehicles but have made some arrests for bike theft.

“Many of the bikes being driven dangerously across Bradford South are stolen and motorbike theft is a growing problem across the country.

“This is one of many operations on Holme Wood and I hope it will show residents that the police are serious about tackling this problem.

“But they also need help from the community. I would urge anyone with information on where these bikes that race around our neighbourhoods are being kept to report the information to the police.”
