PLANS for an extension to be built at a church have been given the go-ahead.
Drighlington Methodist Church applied for permission to build a part single-story, part two-storey link extension between the church, on King Street, Drighlington, and its church hall, as well the creation of an accessible entrance, alterations to two windows on the front of the church and replacement glazed doors to the front and back.
Floor levels to the rear of the church will be lowered to allow level access through to the renovated terraced area at the back, while the ground floor of the church hall will be provided with level access via the new glazed link.
Documents submitted as part of the application say: “This level access will be provided without the need to go outside.
“This will provide a significant improvement on the current situation, where unassisted wheelchair access is not possible and contravenes current standards”.
