THERE are plans to give a town centre building a “wider, more flexible” appeal.

An application has been submitted for 107-109 New Road Side in Horsforth.

It’s currently used for Arrow Cars, but the application says that “ due to a changing business model, the taxi business no longer requires the use of the full building, and it is proposed that most of the ground floor is reclassified under the Class E designation, returning it to a more flexible use within the high street setting”.

It adds: “The remaining areas for the building will be retained under its current use.”

The application says two “distinct and independent” areas of the building would be created.

A new external staircase would be built to provide rear access to parking and bin storage and this would also form a means of escape in the event of a fire.

The application says: “We feel that with the change of use and inclusion of a new staircase the proposals create a wider, more flexible appeal for future tenants of the building as a whole.”

It says this would create “a stronger appeal for the wider area in terms of business viability and community use”.
