A PLAN has been lodged to create new apartments in Horsforth town centre.

The proposal is seeking permission for the partial demolition and redevelopment of a site at 62-64 Town Street.

A design and access statement submitted as part of the application says: “The proposal is for the partial demolition and redevelopment of an existing commercial premises, Lamberts Bar & Cookhouse, and its adjoining car park to the rear of the property.

“The proposals will provide nine apartments in addition to retaining the commercial space at ground floor level of the existing building.

“The proposal retains the commercial use to Town Street, helping to maintain an active frontage and preserving the vitality and viability of Horsforth Town Street as a retail and leisure destination.”

It adds: “The existing single storey side and rear extensions to 62-64 Town Street are to be demolished to make way for a new ‘high quality’ single storey link building which will provide secure access to the residential units from Town Street.

“The first floor of the existing building is to be redeveloped to create a single apartment which will be accessed independently.”

The remaining apartments would be located in a three-story building to the rear of the existing building.
