A BRADFORD-based business has received a £2m investment from West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

But the Authority says it can not reveal which business has been given the cash boost due to “commercial sensitivities.”

A new report by the Authority, which is made up of the five West Yorkshire councils, says the Bradford business is the first to benefit from its West Yorkshire Business Accelerator Fund.

The recently established fund has a budget of £20m to provide funding for business in West Yorkshire. A report detailing the need for the funding said: “The fund will be targeted at high growth businesses, with the potential for significant growth in terms of turnover, profitability and job creation over a short period of time.”

A report going to the Authority’s Finance, Resources, and Corporate Committee on Tuesday gives a brief update on the fund, saying: “Initial investment has been made which is for £2m in a Bradford based business.

It gives no further details of the business.

When asked what business has been awarded the funding, a spokesman for the Combined Authority said: “Due to commercial sensitivities, we’re not at the stage where we can reveal any further information.”
