SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...because a squirrel had come up to them.
West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.
The team often tweets some of the more unusual calls they receive from the general public.
The force receives 120 inappropriate calls each day, and posts them on social media as part of its #Not999 campaign.

In its latest example, the team said: "You shouldn't be ringing 999 for a squirrel.... Just because it is coming up to you and not scared of you. What do you want the police to do?! #Not999.โ
Previous calls to the contact centre have included someone called 999 to ask them to book some driving lessons for them.
