A MAN has been sentenced after a child aged only two years old was not strapped into a car.
Salim Akhtar Qureshi, 65, was charged with using a motor vehicle/trailer when the number of passengers and the manner they were carried was likely to cause danger.
According to court documents, the offence happened on February 22 this year on Thornbury Road.
The documents state five occupants were in the Mitsubishi Shogun, but only three seats.
None were wearing seatbelts and the youngest was only two years old.
The court documents state the manner in which passengers were carried “was such that its use involved a danger of injury to any person”.
Qureshi, of Ellerton Street, Barkerend, was fined £90, ordered to pay costs of £90 and a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services.
A collection order was made to recover the total of £204 and Qureshi’s driving record was endorsed with three points.
The case was heard at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court.
