The mum of Simon McHugh - one of the three victims in the M606 death crash - spoke directly to killer driver Jack Simpson in court today as she bravely read out her family's victim impact statement.
Mr McHugh's mother told Bradford Crown Court she was shocked and in disbelief at hearing the news, adding that her life was changed forever.
'I lost my friend and confidant' and 'he is a big loss in my life', said Mr McHugh's mother in court.
"I was in total shock. It is very tragic. Tragic for this young man (Simpson). He is only young, he has time to change. I hope he has a very happy life with children. My son doesn't have a life anymore. Please use it, do some good with your life'
"I hope no-one knocks on his door. Think on that Jack, get your life back on track. I hope you do' - Mr McHugh's mother speaks to Simpson directly in court.

'This has affected how I act. It's hard to put into words. I feel broken and numb. I can't put into words how a 15/16-year-old was behind the wheel.'
