HOW Riddlesden will fare in Division One of the Craven League next season has divided opinion.

Some think that the Division Two champions will finish in mid-table in the top flight, while others believe they can go straight in and win it.

Riddlesden notched their 17th league win of the season when hosts Barrowford II handed them a walkover.

Already champions, the Keighley club are now 82 points ahead of second-placed Silsden, who can only add 60 more, with just three matches left.

Silsden are one of four clubs fighting for the runners-up berth alongside Eldwick & Gilstead, Long Lee and Glusburn.

Joshua Waind played a key role in Silsden’s 49-run win at bottom club Airedale.

Firstly, the opener scored 39 in the Cobbydalers’ 168 and then took 4-27 as the hosts were dismissed for 119.

Waind added 48 for the second wicket with Ben Sugden (25), while keeper Tom Greenwood (21), Mohsan Gulbhar (20) and Tom Bradley (28) kept the runs coming down the order.

Scott Whittam-Ritchie took 3-19 in 12 overs for Airedale and was then only one of four Airedale players to reach double figures in an innings that was dominated by captain and keeper Alec Pue, who scored 53 off 71 balls, including seven fours.

Sugden backed up his batting with 4-21.

Long Lee were no match for Eldwick & Gilstead at Grange Road, being skittled for 73 after winning the toss.

Tom Butterfield (23), Ben Pennington (18) and Mohammad Ishtiaq (10) were the only three to reach double figures, and the hosts won by seven wickets.

Glusburn were more severely tested at Bradley, who were castled for 62 after winning the toss, Shahbaz GullBahar (18) top-scoring against a potent four-pronged visiting attack.

Irfan Khaliq (3-23), Cody Hird (2-22), Dom Mortimer (2-4) and James Tillotson (2-7) did the damage, but Glusburn were in dire straits themselves at 11-5 after Toby Meynell (5-17) got to work.

It needed Mortimer (15no) to see the derby visitors home in 14.2 overs, aided by Khaliq (13).

Sutton’s winning streak of three matches in Division One is over, but they tested leaders Bingley Congs, only going down by 18 runs at Beckfoot Lane.

Congs had an opening stand of 73 but could only total 139 as change bowlers Sam Solley (4-27) and Ben Middleton (4-31) got to work.

Sutton lost stand-in opener Tony Walton - David Snowden was not playing - early but Solley (32) and Sachin Abraham (38) then put on 63.

Jack Middleton (13) and George Elrick (15) also got double figures but 115-3 became 121 all out, with Sutton losing their last three wickets for no runs.

Ingrow were indebted to Mo Chowdhory’s 71 for posting anything like a score at Cowling.

He scored more than half of their 140, with No. 9 Daniel Fazackerley (26) weighing in alongside Tobias Hartley (12no) as Hamid Ullah (3-40) led the home attack.

Martyn Dalby (36) got the hosts’ total going and they were helped to a six-wicket win by Daud Khan (27), Naqi Hassan (44no) and captain Laiq Ur Rehman (16no) after John Duffey (2-17) had ruffled some feathers.

Denholme started well at home to Barrowford but went from 94-2 to 142 all out.

Adam Taylor (32) and captain Richard Taylor (23) put on 57 as openers but No. 4 Adrian Shires (52) was the only other player in double figures as Hamza Jutt (7-33) laid waste to the innings.

Barrowford won by five wickets with one ball left of the 30th over.

On a day of relatively low scores, at least Haworth got maximum batting points, making 209 at Wilsden, courtesy of skipper James Roper (38), keeper Pete Gower (56), Nick Trowers (22) and Paul Stephens (28).

Damian Rowell (6-41) and Ethan Gouws (3-15) then helped to dismiss Wilsden for 133, with skipper Sam Mitchell making 70.

Cononley missed the chance to put promotion pressure on their Division Three rivals by going down to visitors Gargrave in a superb contest.

This was tough luck on Andrew Starkey, who followed his 137 against Wilsden II with 147 not out.

Only three team-mates reached double figures in Cononley’s 227-8, with Harry Parker and Ihsanulla Daulatzia both scoring 15 and keeper Willie Naylor 12 not out in an unbroken partnership of 113.

There was no chink in the armour in Gargrave’s reply, however, with seven of the top eight making 20 or above in their 229-6, although it did take them until there were two balls left to triumph.

Chris Smith (3-21) and Neil Rollins (3-20) helped Haworth II dismiss Wilsden II for 98 at West Lane, and the home side won by nine wickets in the18th over.

Opener David Robinson scored 53 not out and added 63 unbroken with Rollins (26no).

Oakworth II’s decision to bat backfired at home to Cowling II as they only scored 89, James Lee top-scoring with 31 as Haseed Hanif took 4-15 and Danyal Mahmood 2-13.

Cowling were in no hurry in their reply, triumphing by four wickets in the 33rd over, with Ajmal Choudhry scoring a solid 23 and Yasser Chatta 19 as Lee completed a fine match by taking 4-9.

Denholme II conceded to Long Lee II.

In Division Four, Airedale II defeated hosts Oakworth III by four wickets on Sunday.

Sultan Khan’s 54 was the highlight of Oakworth III’s 119, backed up by 24 from Elis Jones as Warren Coppack (3-22) led a strong Airedale attack.

The visitors were in peril at 65-5 before loanee Dawuq Qurban (27) added 49 for the sixth wicket with Jan Haider (39no), who saw the job through after keeper James Haley had been run out for 33.

Taariq Khan (3-26) and Oliver Thompson (2-5) were the pick of the home bowlers.

Saturday’s matches were a disappointment as Glusburn II conceded to Hepworth & Idle III and Ingrow II conceded to Bingley Congs III.
