A FIREFIGHTER came to the rescue after a huge boa constrictor got stuck...in his owner's bed springs.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) shared these photographs and said animal rescues "come in and shapes and ssssss'sizes".

Technical Rescue Officer Ronnie Goldwater was called out when Sid the snake escaped and got stuck.

"Luckily for Sid, Ronnie was up for the job!" said WYRFS.

Boa constrictors are powerful snakes and they can swallow their prey whole.

After eating a large meal, they don't need to eat again for weeks, and they can have a lifespan of 20 to 30 years.

They grow throughout their life and can weigh more than 100 pounds and grow to around 13ft.

Ronnie is no stranger to animal rescues and earlier this year brought a tawny owl to safety.

The owl was in great distress after it became tethered to a phone line in Menston by an identity lanyard.
