A TEENAGER has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in the neck in Bradford city centre.

A 17-year-old male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear before Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 29, a West Yorkshire Police spokesman confirmed this afternoon.

A man, 48, remains in hospital with serious life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed in the neck in Ivegate at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

A large police cordon, which had been in place in Bradford city centre yesterday, was lifted at around 9pm yesterday.

A man, 44, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released under investigation.

A police spokesman said: “Detectives investigating a serious assault in Bradford City Centre on Thursday 25 August have charged a teenager with attempt murder.

“The 17-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, has been charged and remanded to appear at Bradford Magistrates on Monday, August 29.

“A 44-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation.

“The victim, a 48-year-old man, remains in hospital with serious life changing injuries.”
