A MAN has appeared in court charged with assaulting a female police officer in Bradford.

Neil Bishop, 43, of Halifax Road, Bradford, faced two charges of assault by beating of an emergency worker and using disorderly behaviour towards another person.

In the first offence, he assaulted a police officer acting in the exercise of her functions as such a worker, by beating her. The offence took place on June 17, 2021 in Bradford.

Bishop was fined £646, ordered to pay £100 compensation and a £258 victim surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

In the second charge, using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress, Bishop used such words or behaviour towards another police officer. This incident took place at Nelson Street, Bradford, on June 17, 2021.

Bishop was ordered to pay £50 compensation for this offence.

He pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on August 17, 2022.
