A POLICE scene has been lifted in Bradford City centre tonight after a teenager was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 48-year-old man was left in a critical after he was stabbed in the neck.

The man was stabbed on Ivegate yesterday at around 5.30pm. A large police cordon had been in place since until around 9pm tonight.

West Yorkshire Police – Bradford City posted on its Facebook page tonight: “The police scene on Ivegate and Kirkgate within the city centre has now been lifted.

“Officers would like to thank members of the public and business owners for their understanding throughout the duration of the scene being in place.

“City NPT officers are conducting reassurance patrols at the location.”

A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, he is also in police custody.

A police spokesman said: "Detectives are investigating a serious assault in Bradford City Centre which has left a man with serious injuries in hospital.

"Officers were called at 5.46pm yesterday (Thursday), to report a man had been stabbed in Ivegate.

"A 48-year-old man was found with an injury to his neck. He’s been taken to hospital and his injuries are described as critical.

"A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is in police custody at this time.

"A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, he is also in police custody.

"A scene is in place in Bradford city centre as enquiries remain ongoing into this incident."
