A production of Andrea Dunbar’s Rita, Sue and Bob Too is going on a regional tour.

Diva Productions is taking the playwright's twisted, dark comedy-drama to six Yorkshire venues in October and November 2022.

The semi-autobiographical work attracted a cult following as a stark snapshot of 1980s northern working-class life and ordinary people’s lives.

Andrew Ashley, Artistic Director of Diva Productions, hopes the show will be both “a nostalgic comic snapshot of the 1980s and a brutal reflection of these extraordinary characters”.

The director added: “Many of the play’s themes such as unemployment, poverty, adultery, and not least, child exploitation, still echo contemporary society which makes this play a stark reminder that we didn’t totally leave these things behind in Thatcher’s Britain.”

The production will be shown at Yeadon Town Hall Theatre between November 3 and 5.
