A FIRM has been appointed to carry out some of the work on a new market in Bradford.

The former Marks & Spencer building in the city centre is set to be transformed into a new Darley Street Market. Work began on-site in March this year and is continuing ahead of the market’s expected opening date next year.

The site will include market and food hall will also have an outdoor square, linking Darley Street and Piccadilly, for concerts and events.

Polar, a Middlesbrough-based firm, has been appointed by Kier Construction to deliver the façade package on the market. This includes carrying out the design and installation of windows and commercial and sliding doors.

The food hall will feature a host of dine-in and takeaway food from local street and restaurant traders.

There will be 11 food kiosks in the food hall offering a selection of world foods, two bars, a stage for day and night time entertainment along with seating for around 500 customers both indoors and on the external balcony area overlooking the market square and large outdoor screen.

Meanwhile, the deadline for applications from independent traders for the new Market is Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
