A group of DJs are reigniting the city’s Northern Soul scene this weekend.

Ian Leach, known as DJ Bagi, is one of 11 DJs set to play iconic tunes at Bradford’s Ukrainian Club from 7pm on Saturday (August 27).

It marks the start of the West Bowling DJ’s dream to bring back all nighters and open a modern soul club in the city.

DJs young and old will be playing seven hours of Northern and Modern Soul throughout two rooms.

One of those playing for the first time will be 12-year-old Raheem Sowe.

Ian, who helped found the ‘Soul Incorporated’ group, said: “Our aim is to bring soul lovers and dancers back and have a positive vibe about Bradford. Bradford is and always has been a fantastic place for soul music.

“We want male, female, young and old DJ’s to come to play in Bradford, putting Bradford back on the soul map. There are other amazing soul events nights already happening in Bradford.

“I’ve played at some amazing venues around the country and abroad, but wanted to do something good in Bradford. Bradford is my home.

“We are also looking into bringing a modern soul club back to the city.”
