A WEST Yorkshire Police officer admitted to stealing £10 in cash while on duty in a Bradford court yesterday.
PC Stephen Knott, based in the Kirklees district, stole the money belonging to West Yorkshire Police from a vehicle.
The crime took place on Scar Hole Lane, a rural road up above Butterley, in the Holmfirth area, on Wednesday, September 22, of last year.
Appearing in Bradford Magistrates Court on Wednesday, the 54-year-old received a community order stating he must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
He had to pay a £95 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
It comes following an Independent Office for Police Conduct-directed investigation conducted by West Yorkshire Police.
On the conclusion of the investigation, in January 2022, Independent Office for Police Conduct referred the case to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised the charges.
The crime was contrary to sections 1(1) and 7 of the Theft Act 1968.
