A BINGLEY-based business will be moving to a prominent location next month following its "most successful year yet."
Advanced Mobility Solutions, a mobility scooter rental company on Chapel Lane, Bingley, announced that it will be moving to old Poundland premises at the Five Rise Shopping centre in Bingley in the coming months as its recent success has meant it now has plans to expand and grow.
The move will mean that the business will be able to stock more mobility solution items such as recliner chairs and travel scooters, as well as take on more staff.
Owner, Damian Town-Jones explained that he started the business in 2010 as a stall on Bingley Market after he lost his sales job, but now he has turned over more than half a million pounds this year.
“It's been our most successful year yet. In 2019 I invested absolutely everything I had into the business, I took out a £50,000 loan and I was adamant 2020 would be our year but then Covid happened so I was ready to throw in the towel.
“However, this year everything I’d invested started to pay off. I came in with a change of mindset, I thought we need to take a new approach, and instead of trying to save money, we needed to start spending it.”
Damian explained he’s had a ‘record year’ and each month just keeps topping the last.
“We signed our biggest ever contract with The Great Yorkshire Show, and we’ve also signed up for other major events so it’s just been amazing.”
However, he told the T&A how it hasn’t always been “plain sailing” for the business, and it has overcome many hurdles to get where it is today.
“We started on the market stall initially in 2010, and it cost £10 a day to run from there, and it sounds silly but we were struggling to pay the bills.
“I had my mum working for me, but it got to a point where we couldn’t even afford to pay her so but there was something in me that just knew the business would work so we kept going and struggling on.”
The business now claims to be the UK’s fastest-growing mobility company, supplying nationwide coverage, and providing scooter and wheelchair hire to some of the largest, and longest-running events the nation has to offer.
An opening date has not yet been announced for its new store, but it is expected in the next couple of months.
