A BRADFORD man has appeared in court for an assault at a retail park.

John-Paul Beardsworth, 18, of Nibshaw Road, Bradford, faced one charge of assault by beating.

He assaulted a man by beating him at B&M, Wilton Street Retail Park, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. This offence was in contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.

He was fined £280, ordered to pay £100 and a £34 victim surcharge and to pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service for the offence. A collection order was made by the court at the sentencing hearing. He will pay back £30 per month starting on September 1, 2022.

Beardsworth pleaded guilty to the assault by beating charge and was sentenced at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on August 4, 2022.
