Calls have been made to improve the “appalling” end to a greenway linking Bradford to Shipley.

A consultation on what can be done to boost exercise in the district launched last month and will end next Wednesday (August 31).

So far dozens of people have had their say on the consultation, which is being run by Bradford Council.

People have been commenting on how different areas of the District can be improved to make it easier for people to exercise.

One of the areas that have had the most suggestions is the Canal Road Greenway meets Leeds Road in Shipley.

The greenway is part of a cycle link between Bradford city centre and Shipley, but a number of consultees say after reaching the end of the greenway, cyclists are met with a busy road they need to cross to continue onto the Leeds Liverpool Canal towpath.

One consultee said: “An appalling end to a fabulous greenway.

“Almost impossible to cross if you are able bodied but if you have any kind of disability it is almost impossible.”

Another said: “The greenway just ends and leaves you stranded trying to cross a super busy road.”
