BRADFORD could benefit from a £9m fund to improve access to parks in some of the most deprived areas of the country.
The district was one of 100 areas of the UK recently named in the Government’s Levelling Up Parks Fund.
Bradford Council says it is currently reviewing potential projects that could benefit from Bradford’s share of the fund – expected to be around £85,000.
Announcing the fund, Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities said: “This Fund gives grants to the places that we have identified as most in need of quality green space.
“Parks are as different as the communities they serve. I look forward to seeing the many different projects that appear across the UK, representing and reflecting the incredible places and people, across counties and urban centres.”

Councils have to bid for the funding by October.
Of the £85,000 funding, up to £47,500 can be used for creation or improvement of a park, up to £18,500 for project preperation, creation and maintenance and up to £19,000 for tree planting.
A Bradford Council spokesperson, said: “We welcome the opportunity to bid for further Levelling Up funding.
“We are reviewing potential submissions to identify suitable projects and make best use of the grant.”
