A West Yorkshire Police officer is set to appear in court on suspicion of stealing £10 in cash while on duty.
PC Stephen Knott, based in the Kirklees district, allegedly stole the money on Wednesday, September 22 of last year.
It comes following an Independent Office for Police Conduct-directed investigation conducted by West Yorkshire Police.
On the conclusion of the investigation, in January 2022, Independent Office for Police Conduct referred the case to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised the charges.
PC Knott, based in Holmfirth, near Huddersfield, is due to appear at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court tomorrow (Wednesday, August 24).
A spokesperson from Independent Office for Police Conduct said: "A West Yorkshire Police officer is due to make his first appearance in court charged with one count of theft.
"PC Stephen Knott is alleged to have stolen £10 cash while on duty in West Yorkshire, contrary to section 1(1) and 7 of the Theft Act 1968."
