FILMING for a major new ITV drama has been spotted at another Bradford district location.

The former Shipley tax office is being used as a site for filming for the forthcoming medical thriller, Malpractice.

A number of large white production trucks and large lighting systems could be seen on the car park outside the old tax office.

A red ‘Accident and Emergency’ sign could also be spotted on the front of the tax office building.

Filming on the drama began at the site in May and is understood to be completed by the end of this month. The broadcast date for the drama has yet to be announced.

It is the latest location used for filming for Malpractice in the Bradford district over the summer. Shipley Town Hall in Kirkgate was used as a location in June for scenes.

Bradford Council’s headquarters, City Hall, was also used for scenes last month with the drama’s stars spotted. Even a house in the Moorside Road area of Eccleshill was used for filming earlier this month.

Malpractice stars Niamh Algar and is produced by World Productions, who are responsible for dramas including BBC One’s Line of Duty and Vigil.

The story follows Dr Lucinda Edwards, played by Algar, who is a doctor on a shift that ends in the death of an opioid overdose victim, Edith Owusu.

The plot sees Edith’s grieving father Sir Anthony Owusu demand an inquiry into Lucinda’s actions on the night of her death.

Leading the medical investigation are Dr Norma Callahan and Lucinda’s former colleague. The drama has been written by former doctor, Grace Ofori-Attah.

The drama’s cast also includes James Purefoy, who plays medical supervisor, Dr Leo Harris.

David Wilson, director of Bradford UNESCO City of Film, said: “The use of the redundant Shipley Tax Office as a film set is clear evidence of the demand for studio/set build space across the North of England but in Bradford in particular.

“Bradford has a long and well-documented history of providing some brilliant locations for all manner of productions but the need to build sets in close proximity to some of these locations is becoming more of a pressing matter, especially as many productions are making a conscious effort to be more sustainable and travel less between set and on location.”

Shipley’s former tax office was previously used as a location for Keira Knightley's 2019 movie Official Secrets.
