TWO Bradford men have been ordered to pay more than £1,000 after failing to show train tickets.

The separate cases of Jason White, 41, of Sunbridge Road in Bradford city centre and David Ziga, 35, of Sewell Road in BD3 were both dealt with at Doncaster Justice Centre North.

Neither turned up to court and they were both proved guilty of failing or refusing to hand over a valid ticket not in a designated compulsory ticket area in their absence.

White travelled on an LNER train between Bradford Interchange and Kings Cross Railway Station in London on October 12 in 2020.

He was asked by an authorised person to hand over his ticket for inspection and verification of validity but failed to do so.

The same thing happened with Ziga but on an LNER journey between Leeds and Peterborough instead, on March 23 this year.

White was ordered to pay £540.50 in total.

This includes a £220 fine, £136.50 in compensation for LNER, a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services and £150 in costs.

The total must be paid by September 15 this year.

Meanwhile, Ziga was ordered to pay £500 in total.

This includes a £220 fine, £96 in compensation for LNER, a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services and £150 in costs.

The total must be paid by September 15 this year.
