A 47-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after being tackled to the ground by armed officers at a festival in Bradford city centre.
Drama erupted during the first day of the BD: Festival yesterday at around 6.30pm.
Crowds watched on in shock as officers with pistols in holsters on the side of their legs took a man to the ground to detain him, at Centenary Square.
West Yorkshire Police revealed today that a 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
He is still in prison currently.
BD: Festival, which continues today and was formerly known as the Bradford Festival, began yesterday with performances ranging from aerial acrobats to giant sea creatures wandering the streets.
A full statement from West Yorkshire Police said: "A 47-year-old man was arrested in Centenary Square, Bradford, yesterday evening (Friday, 19 August) on suspicion of a public order offence. He remains in custody at this time."
