TRAFFIC was backed up for an hour after a motorhome blocked a main road near a supermarket.

The vehicle had broken down on Rooley Lane, near the large Asda store just off it.

A motorist who was stuck in the queues and eventually got past the blockage at 5.20pm said the motorhome was stationary in the left-hand lane of three, preventing people from turning into the access route for the supermarket.

They added that a marked police car was on hand and blocked part of the left-hand lane near the motorhome.

This meant the route was condensed into two lanes near the traffic lights, with queues stretching back as far as the McDonald's on Rooley Lane.

Traffic was stationary at times until the motorhome was cleared.
