SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...as they wanted to report lost property from a year ago.

West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.

The team often tweets some of the more unusual phone calls they receive from the general public.

In its latest example, the team said: "You shouldn't be ringing 999 to report lost property. Especially when you lost it last year....#Not999.”

Previous calls to the contact centre have included someone called 999 to ask them to book some driving lessons for them.

Another call came from someone who had a broken oven and wanted police to fix it. Someone else wanted police to order a pizza for them.
