A BRADFORD man has been sent to prison for driving on the motorway while disqualified from holding a driving licence.
Raja Aziz, of Oak Lane in Manningham, committed the crime on the M606 on September 15 of last year.
The 46-year-old was jailed for six weeks due to the severity of the offence. It occurred shortly after he had been disqualified.
The poor state of the vehicle and standard of driving was also mentioned in court last week.
The crime was contrary to section 103(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
He must also pay a £128 victim surcharge.
Aziz has been disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months.
He also admitted to using the car without third-party insurance.
Both charges were heard in Bradford And Keighley Magistrates' Court on Monday, August 8.
