I WAS disturbed to read about the popularity of bullfighting in the South of France.
Families along young children, who apparently delight in this incredibly cruel, gruesome bloodsport. Long associated with Spain, bullfighting is thankfully declining in that country, with 84 per cent of Spaniards aged 18 to 24 opposed to it, according to a survey by World Animal Protection. But in southern France it’s on the rise. What sort of people enjoy watching an innocent animal being baited to a painful death? How can anyone take delight from that? Bullfighting is utterly barbaric and should be banned the world over.
