A MAN who was caught with an offensive weapon – a weight in a sock – has appeared in court.

Toquil Ditta, 52, of Woodville Terrace, Little Horton, appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court.

He was charged with several offences, including possession of cannabis, which he pleaded guilty to; assault occasioning actual bodily harm, which the court found him guilty of and possession of an offensive weapon, the weight in a sock, which the court also found him guilty of.

Ditta was re-sentenced for a charge of malicious communications, which he received a community order for in March this year, and was also re-sentenced for racially aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress, for which he received a community order in February.

Ditta was given a community order and must carry out 165 hours of unpaid work.

He must also pay compensation of £250. The cannabis and weight in a sock will be forfeited.
