A YOUNG girl was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car. 

Emergency services were scrambled to Halifax Road in Queensbury at 4.45pm on Wednesday. 

The road was cordoned off while the scene was cleared. 

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus: "At 4.45pm yesterday, police were called to a road traffic collision involving a child pedestrian and a red Volkswagen Polo in Halifax Road, Queensbury.

"The 12-year-old girl was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary with serious injuries that were confirmed not to be life threatening.

"The driver stopped at the scene and has been spoken to by officers.

"A road closure was put in place between Roper Lane and Oxford Road while the incident was dealt with.

"The road reopened shortly after 8pm."
