A TEENAGE boy appeared in court after stealing bottles of vodka, as well as breaking into a charity shop and a Tesco store.

The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his young age, was charged with two counts of theft and two counts of burglary.

His spree of offending began on June 15 this year, when he burgled the Keighley Cat Care charity shop on Low Street in Keighley and stole a cash register to the value of £179.

Then on June 19, he burgled Tesco in Ilkley and stole £18 worth of items.

Then on June 22, he stole a bottle of vodka worth £25 from the store, before returning again on June 24 when he stole three bottles of vodka worth £120.

He pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on August 1.

The boy was referred to the Bradford Youth Offender Panel for a period of four months.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, a victim surcharge of £26 and compensation of £114 - £54 to Tesco and £60 to Keighley Cat Care.

The total of £225 must be paid by August 15.
