POLICE say there has been an increase in the number of stone thefts in the Kirklees district.

The incidents have mainly occurred in the Huddersfield and Dewsbury areas of the district.

On Church Lane in Moldgreen, suspects stole 11 Yorkshire Stone paving slabs from a garden between 10:00pm-8am August 3 and 4.

Three flagstones were removed from outside a property at Senior Street, Moldgreen between midnight 6am on August 4.

At Orchard Terrace in Huddersfield, suspects removed stone flags from the rear garden path of a property.

On Common Road at Staincliffe, Dewsbury offenders removed a number of paving stones at 10.15pm on August 3. The offenders used a white Ford Transit van with a heightened roof and loaded the stone through the side sliding doors. The crime reference number for this incident is 13220424681.

On Church Lane, Mirfield, six stone flags were taken from St Mary The Virgin Church pre-school between 9pm-8am on August 1 and 2.

On August 2 at around 4pm. offenders, believed to be using a white Ford Transit Van, stole Yorkshire stone wall toppers.
