A BRADFORD care home renamed by its residents has received a civic visit.

Shakespeare Court is now called Chestnut Lodge after the new name was chosen by the home’s residents following a unanimous vote.

Residents celebrated the day at the Butler Street East, Barkerend, site with a party with their friends, family, community - as well as a VIP guest, the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Martin Love.

Comfort Chibuye, home manager, said: “The day was a huge success and was such an honour to have the Lord Mayor visit our home.

“It was lovely to see the Lord Mayor take the time out of his day to chat with residents and staff.”

Recent refurbishments to modernise and refresh the home were shown to guests in attendance on the day.
