SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...because they had been given underweight fruit at a market stall.
West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.
The team often tweets some of the more unusual phone calls they receive from the general public.

In its latest example, the team said: "To market to market to ring 999.
“Ringing 999 to report you have been given underweight fruit at the market is not an appropriate use of 999.
"Trading standards would be more appropriate.”
Previous calls have included someone asking police to book some driving lessons for them. Another came from a man who wanted to report his oven was broken and it needed to be fixed.
