A MAN has been jailed for driving the streets of Shelf while banned.

Robert Kesely, 32, was caught behind the wheel of a Peugeot 206 on May 30, on Halifax Road in Shelf.

He pleaded guilty when he appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on July 26.

Magistrates sentenced Kesely to 16 weeks' imprisonment and disqualified him from driving for three years.

Court documents show that the length of the sentence and driving ban were down to it being his tenth conviction and him having previously breached court orders.

Kesely, of Lightowler Close, Halifax, also pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle without third-party insurance on the same date. He received no separate penalty for this offence.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128.
