PROPOSALS to build homes on a former orphanage site have been withdrawn for a second time.

An application for 11 large homes on the Joseph Nutter Orphanage site next to Horton Park were submitted by Opulent Lane Developments earlier this summer.

Last year a similar application for the site was withdrawn after a number of objections were submitted to Bradford Council.

This latest application also received objections, and now has also been withdrawn.

The Nutter Orphanage – which dated back to the 1880s, was demolished in 2019. The site, next to the Grade II-listed park, has been empty ever since.

Among those to object to the latest application were the Yorkshire Gardens Trust, which said the homes would “harm the setting and significance of Horton Park".
