MORE than 50 police vehicles have been rammed in the past year.

There were 58 collisions involving force vehicles that were recorded as being "rammed" in the last 12 months, a Freedom of Information Request (FOI) to West Yorkshire Police has revealed.

This was between June 30 last year and July 1 this year.

It comes after another FOI last month highlighted the force has had to spend more than £2.8 million on repairing its vehicles that were involved in pursuits over the past five years.

One vehicle was deemed to be a write-off in 2021/22 but that period saw the second-highest figure spent on damaged vehicles - £502,828.

A total of 21 vehicle were written off in the five-year period covered by the FOI.
