TWO people have died after a car crashed into a wall in Bradford, police have confirmed.

West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team (MCET) would like to speak to anyone who saw or has dashcam footage of the incident which took place on Dryden Street, Bradford, last night.

It took place at about 11.30pm an Audi SQ5 collided with a wall after failing to negotiate a left-hand turn.

The 24-year-old male driver of the car suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

A second man, also aged 24, who was a passenger in the car, has died, West Yorkshire Police has confirmed this afternoon.

A third male was also taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

The two men who died in the crash have been named locally as Mohammed Azad Khan and Arsalan Baig.

Crews from Bradford, Shipley and Odsal also attended the scene.

DS Fiona Allan, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “A number of enquiries remain ongoing today into this clearly very serious collision which has sadly resulted in a young man losing his life.

“The Audi had been travelling along Dryden Street away from Shipley Airedale Road when the crash occurred, and we are keen to speak with anyone who saw the car in the moments before the collision or the crash itself.

Meanwhile, a Bradford district councillor has spoken of his shock at the incident and the impact such crashes on city roads have on victim’s families.

Cllr Nazam Azam (Lab, City): “Too many young lives are being lost.

“Too many families are going through utter devastation and trauma which is avoidable.

“You cannot begin to imagine the devastation that the families and the friends and loved ones of those involved in this incident will be going through now.

“I would say to youngsters please for your family’s and loved one’s sakes be considerate on the roads.

“It is unimaginable the devastation caused to the families in such incidents.

“Families are having to grieve losses such as these that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

“Youngsters need to take responsibility and think about the impact that your loves ones, family and friends would go through.

“Such incidents are something that we need to tackle in this district.”
