The International claimed the best dish accolade for its Lamb desi, or lamb on the bone, after it wowed the awards’ four judges.

They were one of five finalists vying for the best dish title.

Safeer Khan, manager at the International restaurant, said: “It’s brilliant and it’s great that we have been recognised.

“We shared with lifetime achievement award and we won the best dish award, which was great.”

The Bradford Curry Awards, first launched in 2018, celebrate the city’s well-established and award-winning curry houses, which made history by getting the city’s curry industry together for the first time, under one roof to celebrate the half-a billion-pound industry.

International, the family-run eatery was first established in 1976, when Indian cuisine was a new feature to the British Isles. It reopened after a refurbishment in 2019.
