SOMEONE rang the 999 emergency line...because their Amazon parcel had not been delivered.
West Yorkshire Police's Contact Management Centre shared details of the call to highlight the importance of using 999 for emergency calls only.
The team often tweets some of the more unusual calls they receive from the general public.
Ringing 999 because your #Amazon parcel has not been delivered is definitely not an Emergency! #NOT999
— WYP Contact Management Centre (@WYP_Contact) July 29, 2022
The force receives 120 inappropriate calls each day, and posts them on social media as part of its #Not999 campaign.
In its latest example, the team said: "Ringing 999 because your #Amazon parcel has not been delivered is definitely not an Emergency! #NOT999”
Previous calls to the contact centre have included someone calling 999 to ask them to book some driving lessons for them.
Another call came from someone who wanted the police to order them a pizza.
